Phase 1
This was a one year project running from 15th August 2013 to 15th August 2014. The project was funded by Caritas Germany. The project is located in Wiyumiririe Location in Laikipia County.
Objective
The objective of the project was to improve the livelihoods of 776 households by provision of farm tools, distribution of drought escaping crops seeds, tree seedlings for agro forestry and environmental conservation and also Capacity building through trainings.
Phase 2
This is a one year project whose implementation period is from 15th August 2014 to 15th August 2015. The project targets 400 beneficiaries in 4 camps (A, B, C & D). Each camp has 100 households.
SO 1: Provide water for domestic use and irrigation to 400 households by harnessing roof and flood water.
SO 2: Production of drought tolerant crops on 100 acres by 400 farmers on 1/8 of an acre per farmer.
SO 3: Increase household income by indigenous poultry production and hay growing on ¼ acre land by 400 households.
The projected acreage under cultivation was not achieved.
